May 09 My May piece was an experiment for me. This tulip was in my garden this spring. It was one of the last tulips to bloom. I just loved the colors of this tulip. It just grabbed me with just the right shade of pink with just the right shade of yellow. I was just captivated by its beauty, stunning. I took pictures of it one day and became aware of how by looking at it I was able to think about just the flower, nothing else. I had a quiet mind for even a couple minutes. I have to work hard at being mindful so if it happens without trying I better pay attention. I decided I would do my May BJP on this tulip.. Because of this tulip I was able to feel the Sunlight of the Spirit . For this Im grateful. I dont usually like yellows so I had to shop for just the right yellow and just the right pink. I painted my fabric with the colors I needed and had a beautiful pink and yellow ribbon that I found in my stash of ribbons. Its not a tulip but a representation of something beautiful.

My goodness, Julie -- you certainly captured the essence of that beautiful flower and the "spirit" that reached out to you in this piece. I think this has to be my favorite of all you have done!

Julie, everything about this piece is perfect! the paint colors in the background; the twisting, swirling shapes of the beading; and the ribbon and bead colors. It is a lovely representation of the tulip that inspired it without being a copy of the flower.

You certainly had success with this experiment! You got the tulip colors exactly right. How many bead shops did you visit to find these colors? Are the seed beads from Storm Cloud? And the ribbon! OMG, so pretty!!! I love how you made nest-like forms with it as well as the flower buds at the top. Maybe the nest forms are flowers too, but in keeping with the meaning of your piece, I think nests work too. Love this !!!!! Robin A.

Oh yes, I almost forgot to ask you about painting the fabric... what type of paint did you use? It's fabulous!!!!! R.

Oh Jules!! The colors in this piece are delicious! That yellow is absolutely perfect...I wonder where you found it...I have never seen it myself...and the pale pinks and the hint of lavender all comes together to make a harmony.

I am at peace too when I look at this. There is always such a freedom in your work that I don't get in mine. Like you have a very playful spirit. I, like Robin, would love to know what paint you used on the fabric...

Peace and harmony...Susan

This is soooo lovely, Julie! I absolutely love your color palette of beads. So ethereal and delicate! When spring finally comes to Minnesota it's a wonder to behold. You captured that ephemeral beauty perfectly.

Julie, Can you send me a bit of information on your beads. Where do you get most of your beads and where can I get the white flat beads you have in your Feb. piece. I had a few of those beads and I can't remember where I got them. Love all your pieces!!!! Lise email me at lucyped@shaw.ca
