February
This is something Ive been working on personally for some time now. The 2 Gingko leaves represent the 2 sides of me. The upper leaf being the young, playful part. The lower leaf being the tough, layered dense texture that you cant possibly get to. Very protective. Im feeling like I dont need that as much anymore. I could remove the spikes certainly. But one step at a time, right? I really like this piece,I think its my favorite.

Hi Julie,
We are neighbors, well across the river anyway.
I did not recognize your name so I came to look at your blog. I love your use of different kinds of beads.
I have used those spiky beads myself, trying to keep people/things at bay.
Me and a friend (quilter) get together and craft, let me know if you would like to join us sometime.
Take Care.

I like the dagger beads and the ginkos, as well as the color scheme you've used...

Julie, you are so brave and talented... "layered dense texture that you can't possibly get to" (we all have that aspect of ourselves, I think) - so well visually beaded and described! I'm glad you're not needing that as much anymore. This piece is my favorite too... although they are all very special.

By the way, I've been reading your beautiful, sensitive comments on other blogs... I appreciate that you take the time to comment.

All of the pages are amazing! I love the dagger beads, too, and I would love to learn to add more to pieces as you do. Wonderful!

A self portrait! Brave woman. I can certainly understand the spikes and density. I've even been told by people that they can see my shield go up!

All lovely. In particular I like the ginko leaf pages. I have always loved them as a motif. Makes me think of Frank Lloyd Wright and Oak Park, Il.
